On the October 9th, 2023 edition of Notre Dame Federal Credit Union's Irish Football Fix, host Angelo Di Carlo sits down with Notre Dame kicker Spencer Shrader about faith, family and football.
Shrader, a transfer from South Florida, became the first player in Notre Dame history two make two field goals of more than 50 yards in the same game when he kicked a 53 and 54-yard field goal against Louisville. The 54-yarder ties the school record for longest set by Shrader earlier this year. It has not always been perfect for Shrader this year. There have a number of missed field goals along the way adding adversity.
But by and large, he's known for his big leg. And while his leg is strong, it is no where as strong as his faith. Shrader says he doesn't pray before field goals asking for help making a kick. He says he already has been given the talents from God. He prays just to have courage when he goes out there.
Shrader's overall journey is a unique one and one you will enjoy hearing in this conversation.
