On the September 29th, 2025 edition of Notre Dame Federal Credit Union's Irish Football Fix, host Chuck Freeby chats with former Notre Dame baseball great Trey Mancini in our Focus on Faith interview.

In 2019, Trey belted 35 home runs and drove in 97 runs for the Baltimore Orioles. A year later, routine blood work rocked his world. He had stage 3 colon cancer.

Trey went from playing Major League Baseball to a fight for his life. He was literally preparing himself for the possibility of death.

But through an incredible support system and faith, Trey not only beat cancer but he returned to the big leagues and was the MLB Comeback Player of the Year in 2021. A year later, he was traded to Houston and helped the Astros win the World Series.

Now 5 years after his cancer diagnosis, Mancini is not only married but just days away from becoming a dad for the 1st time--something he thought may never happen in 2020.

It's quite the inspiring story!
