About Morena, Morena [Liptov]

The first single from “The Future Sound of Slovakia Vol.1” looks to the Liptov region to celebrate the arrival of spring. This song is part of traditional Slovak rituals related to bidding farewell to winter and welcoming spring.

The Morena (or Muriena) symbolizes winter and everything old that must be “sent off” to make way for renewal and new life. In the track (the fourth on the album), the ukulele riff plays off the keyboards. The fujara flute converses with those of the highlands, tarkas, sikus, and the drums create a space for the toc-tocs and glockenspiel to join the dance. The wind ensemble at the end adds an epic touch.

About Mira Tus Manos

Mira Tus Manos is the DJ project of Cristian Estrella, the Argentine musician and producer based in Europe since 2015. The axes of his sets with which he has performed in Argentina, Slovakia, France, Hungary and Czech Republic, are Latin American and Slovak folklore, interacting with beats ranging from downtempo to techno, passing through cumbia and experimental rhythms.

Looking at one's hands is, at the same time, a practice used in “lucid dreaming” (a technique to become conscious within dreams). The writer Carlos Castaneda describes that in this way, it is possible to stabilize the dream experience and explore other planes of reality.

Tropical Terror presents “Danza Nahual” a sonic journey that fuses the ancestral traditions of El Salvador with the most avant-garde electronic music. This single is an invitation to connect with our roots and celebrate cultural diversity through music.

The title track is an explosion of tribal rhythms, enveloping melodies and futuristic electronic elements. The track, inspired by Salvadoran mythology, evokes the figure of the nahual, a mythical being capable of transforming into an animal, and transports us to a magical and ancestral world.

The Downtempo version offers a more intimate and reflective interpretation of the main theme, perfect for moments of relaxation and inner connection.

Both tracks were composed and produced in Reason 12, also with the support of some VSTs from Waves and NI.

About Tórtolas

The sound of Turtledoves fluttering above my house signals the arrival of good weather....

They return in spring and always fly to create the nest in the same place as the previous year. Their sound with a continuous rhythm inspires me tranquillity... calm... peace... a great gift in the times we live in.

Mû Mbana, composer and performer of multiple stringed instruments with which he spreads tones and aromas of Africa around the world. A native of Bolama Island in Guinea-Bissau, he grew up influenced by the religious chants of the women of the Brame (Macanha) and Bijagos (Bidjugu) ethnic groups. Mû is one of the people who pushed me the most to take this project forward, and he has also been in charge of the vocals on this track.

I was also lucky to have the collaboration of Theodoros Koumartzis on Greek lyre, and Sergio Di Finizio on electric bass. Cid Napalma, Wellington Coelho and Morgan Stern added percussion from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The release is completed with an alternative version with vocals by Laizä, an artist from Los Barrios, Cádiz, based in Madrid, and remixes by the Colombian artist Ruido Selecto, the Galicians Terrae and the Catalan producer of Mexican origin MiRET.
