Back in the day we used music from television shows, movies, and classical music to play in the background while we gamed.

Star Trek the Original Series, and later movies. Star Wars original trilogy, Indiana Jones, and others by John Williams.

Excalibur, the Conan Movies, Alien and Aliens, Predator, Terminator, and more came to mind after I recorded the episode.

The them for the planet eater from the Star Trek episode The Doomsday Machine, is great for building tension. Here's a short clip I found.
