1. ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Matt.22:37-39, NIV).
2. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. (Jn 13:34, NIV)
3. Disciple = student, apprentice
4. 40 Students (disciples) are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained
will become like the teacher. –Luke 6:40 (NLT)
5. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son.
–Romans 8:29 (NLT)
6. The extent to which we know Jesus is our limit to becoming like him.
7. 15 But despite Jesus’ instructions [to be quiet], the report of his power spread even faster,
and vast crowds came to hear him preach and to be healed of their diseases. 16 But Jesus
often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer. –Luke 5:15-16 (NLT)
8. You cannot give what you do not possess.
