Follow the Sound

Four years ago my wife and I started going to a music festival in Las Vegas known as Life is Beautiful. We’ve gone back every year since then. On this episode I go through the many bands I saw the week before Life is Beautiful and every band I saw at the festival. I hope...

The first time I listened to Twenty One Pilots, I didn’t get it. However, before going to their concert, I browsed their videos on Youtube and I grew to see them for what they really are. The genre-defying duo from Ohio creates musical and lyrical landscapes that cannot truly be defined by modern music terms. They...

Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro popped up on my radar several years back when they appeared on a British TV show. Their finely controlled explosive musical power made me seek out one of their albums. Opposites is musically one of the most complex and composed rock albums I’ve ever come across. (WARNING: Explicit Lyrics) You...

He combined elements of Irish folk music, blues, soul, and rock with deep lyrics that are sometimes playful but also dark. His self-titled album topped the charts in many countries, and the song...

Talking Dreams by Echosmith is the product of a great family band that has risen in the last few years. Their use of harmonies and driving rhythms creates a sound that, while labeled as “indy pop”, is actually far more complex and interesting. Released in 2013 Talking Dreams has stood out from other albums due to...

You Belong Here by Leagues is an amazing album from 2013. It is an album that I have listened to many times over. The musicianship and songwriting is extremely strong and I believe it should go down as one of the best albums of this decade. You can order the album here. You can also...
