Luke Skywalker; A Jedi. A myth. A legend. Before the events of the sequel trilogy, the last time we see Luke Skywalker, he has defeated the Emperor through compassion for his father. Later, we learn he embarks on a new journey, training the next generation of Jedi.
When we reconnect with Luke in The Last Jedi, he is not the Jedi, nor the man we remember. Because of fear, he has suffered loss and has experienced failure of the most terrible degree; losing Ben Solo. So much so, that he goes into exile on an island to die.
The course that Luke's life has taken has caused many to wonder whether or not it is consistent with his character. Tonight, we'll aim to discuss how failure led to Luke becoming the Jedi and man he was always meant to be.
