As we anxiously anticipate the possibility of S'mores in The Following, Katherine recaps Season 1, Episode 9 of The Following, "Love Hurts"! An episode that features a particularly excellent follower, Amanda Porter, who is great and unhinged and awesome and kills people in some crazy ways. We also have some sad moments with Jacob and Paul, there's what seems to be a really terrible and sad party at a professor's house, Ryan Hardy keeps wanting to be killed. Katherine and Grant forget their names! Katherine (or is it Grant) is thinking more about Kevin Baking! Grant (no, it's Katherine) recap Episode 6 of "The Following," titled "The Fall," in which we begin with resolving a cliffhanger! There's a flashback inside a flashback! As the title of the episode suggests, Kevin Bacon Makes a Move! Mike gets shot! Grant makes a game for Katherine (or is it Katherine makes a game for Grant) in which s/he has to identify if a song that appeared in the show is an original or a cover!

Grant recaps episode five, "The Siege," a change in the formula of the show that has very few flashbacks! Katherine starts calling the star Kevin Baking! And Katherine shares her love of the musical "Hamilton," as this episode introduces as Joe Carrol's lawyer Renée Elise Goldsberry, who is best known as her recent Broadway portrayal of Angelica Schuyler. Grant does terribly at Katherine's game, in which he has to distinguish between Kevin Bacon, Edgar Allan Poe, Alexander Hamilton, and Lin-Manuel Miranda! And more!

But first, there's a more serious discussion of the politics of talking about TV shows that focus on cops and the FBI at a time in which American culture is coming to terms with how cop shows often lead audiences to identify with the police, which serves to legitimate popular support of the police (rather than, for instance, questioning how support for the police intersects with and opposes movements for racial justice such as Black Lives Matter).

All this, plus a discussion of a particularly crazy early episode, the fact that Joe Carrol is just such a good teacher that of course he's going to get students to be serial killers, and the usual segments, a 20 questions based game, and more!
