The story of deliverance wasn't meant to be a one-time event, a flash in the pan, or merely something that happened in the past. Rather, God intended it to be an ongoing, living reality—a shared experience that would define the community's shared identity from generation to generation. This message explores the implications of this truth for ancient Israel and for us today.

Paul encourages us to invest our money like seeds according to the "principle of blessings." Farmers don't expect a loss--they expect a harvest, and so should we. Not a harvest of more money to spend on our personal wants, but a harvest of spiritual fruit--enriched relationships with God, meeting practical needs, and the growth of the Kingdom beyond us.

The Israelite's exodus from Egypt is an ancient foreshadowing of God’s provision for our salvation and freedom through Jesus Christ. In this passage, Israel is actually delivered from Pharaoh's hand. Just before they leave, the story pauses for God to prepare them to tell and live the story for generations to come.

The ten plagues tell the story of an epic showdown between the forces of good and evil. The journey to freedom is a process that can be lengthy and difficult. Although God has paid for and promised our freedom, victory doesn't come instantly. The key to moving forward with God towards freedom is humility.

God is doing something around us and he invites us to be a part of it. Even if we don’t feel like we have what it takes to participate with Him, when he invites, he equips and provides. And when obstacles come, and surely they will, we can lean in and persevere, knowing his Presence is with us.

As we pursue maturity in Jesus together, the first Psalm invites us to recognize the power of the influences we allow into our lives. Carelessly allowing the council of the ungodly into our lives can lead us down a path where we get stuck. True freedom comes as we learn to delight in God's instruction and, moment by moment, seek to apply it in our lives. A growing relationship with Jesus is the only path to true blessing and prosperity in the ups and downs of life.

Throughout history, God has shown himself to be faithful to his promises. Yet we each live in a broken world and experience oppression. As he works for our deliverance behind the scenes, we are called pray, to fear him and to walk with him on this journey to freedom.

Community is the non-negotiable context of growth—where we can move towards maturity as we authentically invite God and good people into our lives.
