FOMO — The Fear of Missing God This message centers on the condition of the heart and the fear of the Lord as a pathway to recovery, steadfastness, and usefulness to God. Beginning with Hannah, we see that salvation can so transform our perspective that we can "smile at our enemies"—not because our circumstances are easy, but because our joy is rooted in the Lord and His salvation. The message then returns to Proverbs 16:3: "Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established." Through personal testimony, the truth is illustrated that God takes ordinary, inadequate people who surrender themselves to Him and enriches them by grace with understanding, wisdom, and the ability to communicate His truth. Like stale hot dog buns transformed into something desirable by being enriched, our "nothing" placed into Christ's "everything" can become useful for His glory. Ecclesiastes 9:1–3 reveals the deeper issue: everything ultimately comes down to "the condition of the condition of the heart." The same kinds of circumstances happen to the righteous and unrighteous, but they are interpreted differently because of what rules the heart. Fallen humanity is described as being full of evil and madness—not merely incapable of inward good, but broken by sin and unable to fulfill its eternal purpose apart from God. This explains why a fallen world can celebrate what God condemns and reject what God treasures. Darkness can actually appear as light to a heart that is not aligned with God. Therefore, humanity's deepest problem cannot be solved merely by changing politics, circumstances, culture, education, or environment. We need new hearts, and only Jesus can give them. T
