God is always incredibly generous with us every day. But did you know there is something you can do to trigger that attribute so that he's even more generous with you?

Did you know that some people write checks and put them in the offering plate at church every week, and God finds that worship unacceptable? He rejects their worship? Could it be that God is rejecting your worship? What makes worship through giving pleasing to God or displeasing? God's going to answer that question for us today in Philippians 4:18.

High inflation is decreasing the value of all your savings, they try to fix it by raising interest rates that tank the stock market and depress real estate markets and any kind of investments that involve financing, and wages are not keeping up. Where can you go for an investment that will pay off? Today we'll look at a sure thing.

Paul closes out the book of Philippians with a section on giving. Today we're going to see how you can greatly improve your giving without taking a single extra dollar out of your wallet. You can improve your giving by adding an extra ingredient to the money you already give that will make your gift far better and more effective.

If we could see a video of ourselves the way we talk to the people closest to us—the people we claim to love most, we would very often be ashamed to see the lack of basic kindness and respect. How can you change that? You can change it by learning from someone who has a great attitude toward others, and you're going to be shocked when you hear who it is.

Have you ever had someone assume you were doing something out of bad motives when you really had good motives, but they wouldn't believe you? Assuming bad motives is a very unloving thing to do. Assuming good motives is a tremendously loving thing to do. And not only loving, but it's something you can do to change the people close to you for the better.

In Philippians 4:10, Paul says, "I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me." They sent him a gift, and he was ecstatic. And so he wrote to them and told them how happy he was about it. We hear a lot about how love must be sacrificial—you give up what you prefer for someone else's benefit. That is something love does. But not every act of love is like that. Today Paul shows us how sometimes the most loving thing you can do is to enjoy a gift.

Of all the things you experience today, one of them will be the hardest of the day. You don't know what that will be yet, but whatever it ends up being, would it be possible for you to feel contentment in that moment?

When we read in Philippians 4, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me," what does that mean? You can't jump over the moon. There's all kinds of things you can't do—that Jesus won't strengthen you to do no matter how much you ask him. So what does that verse mean? Is it just a meaningless pep talk? Or is it literally true?

You can decide whether you want to live in contentment or discontent. Contentment is wonderful. That is a happy life. Discontent is miserable. So why is it that we are so bent on living in discontent?
