Cuppa’s N Kōrero

Food Sovereignty with Alesha Tomasi

Listen Later

During this interview with Alesha we dive into the importance of knowing what drives you. Lesh shares about her journey to self-sustainability, hunting and even practical tips to GET OFF YOUR PHONE!

This is a lighthearted conversation with so many titbits of wisdom. Alesha says: " My childhood was spent learning hands-on skills—gardening, preserving, and helping care for animals on my family’s lifestyle block.

Today, my partner Matt and I are building our own little homestead from scratch. In Hokitika, we raise animals, grow and preserve as much of our own food as we can, and spend our spare time hunting, foraging, and learning new ways to be more self-sufficient. From free diving for food to experimenting with old-fashioned recipes like gorse flower wine, we love finding creative ways to live closer to nature.

I’m passionate about helping others reconnect with where their food comes from and showing that you don’t need to have it all figured out to start."

Tune in to her speak truth on the ease of getting started!
