Hull City have enjoyed a promising start to life back in the Premier League – their 0-0 draw at home to Aston Villa meaning they remain unbeaten after three games. They lost their first game of the season – as well as conceded their first goals - in the League Cup at Sunderland.

There is also time to discuss Bradford City’s solid League One campaign – sat fourth inn the standings after their 1-0 win over Mansfield Town at the weekend, while Sheffield United’s gutsy 2-1 Championship win at Blackburn Rovers in midweek offers Chris Wilder hope of being among the promotion candidates later down the line, despite going through a frustrating summer transfer window.

This week, Leon is asked for his Yorkshire-based Player of the Week, while Stuart comes up with his more impressive Team of the Week.

The summer transfer window proved to be another heady cocktail of blockbusting deals and late, late agreements as Yorkshire’s clubs looked to try and set themselves up for a successful campaign.

In the Premier League, Leeds United and Hull City adopted contrasting approaches, with the Tigers confirming six new arrivals on the final day of transfer activity, taking their net spend past the £100m mark. 

Leeds were more reserved but still spent big, the most notable additions being goalkeeper James Trafford signed for £40m from Manchester City, while two new arrivals joined on deadline day to take their number of summer signings up to seven.

The signing of Eintracht Frankfurt's jet-paced winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya ended the club's search for a new striking option, while Nice left-back Melvin Bard completed his move on an initial loan.

All of Yorkshire’s clubs were busy with ins and outs and Stuart Rayner and Leon Wobschall joining host Mark Singleton to also discuss the deals for our Championship, League One and League Two clubs and who got the best deals – in either direction.

This week, Stuart is given the task of choosing a Player of the Week, leaving Leon to determine a Team of the Week.

Leeds United lost their final game of the Premier League season when going down 3-0 at West Ham United who, despite the win, were still relegated to the Championship. But the loss does not detract from what has been a positive return to the top-flight for Leeds under Daniel Farke – who was able to keep a promoted side in the division for the first time in his coaching career.

The panel reflect on the highs of the 2025-26 campaign for the Whites and what they need to do during the coming summer months to ensure they strengthen their position.

What was for some people a ‘controversial’ England World Cup squad selection by Thomas Tuchel also comes under the spotlight, as does Oli McBurnie’s omission from the Scotland squad despite a memorable season with Hull in the Championship. This week marks 10 years since Sheffield Wednesday were 90 minutes away from ending what was back then a 16-year absence from the Premier League.

But it was Hull City who got over the line and on to the riches promised by the English game's top-flight.

Last weekend, the Tigers booked their own return to the Premier League by beating Middlesbrough, but the Owls' fate had long been sealed with relegation to League One confirmed many weeks before.
