Evalyn was born in Perth and grew up Brisbane, Rockhampton, Newcastle, and the Blue Mountains and has travelled and worked in many locations including Canada, Fraser Island (Now K’gari), Yulara, Ballarat, China, Melbourne, Cairns in many different roles including as a truck driver, tour guide, hospitality worker and many more. She’s also studied at the post-graduate level. Her plans for the future include hosting large fundraising concerts, getting elected to federal parliament, and hiking across Europe.

Venetia was born in Canberra, and initially came out as lesbian at the age of 19 because bi-sexuality wasn’t really an option back then but has now claimed that as part of her identity. She’s done public radio in Canberra, played in a band, and moved down to Melbourne to become a rock star which hasn’t happened yet! Had a background of depression so did a degree in Social work so she could help others and has worked in the drug and alcohol field for many years including 5 years at Thorne Harbour Health. She married her wife in the early 2000s in the Netherlands and had some difficulty getting divorced prior to the introduction of marriage equality in Australia.

Demetra was born in the Queen Victoria Hospital (now a women’s centre) in Melbourne and grew up in Richmond and then the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. She is of Greek heritage and now lives in St Kilda. She worked as a litigation lawyer in the building sector for much of her career and is now a mediator in the same sector. She is also a filmmaker and has just finished writing, directing, and editing her first feature film titled “Love Rewind” – a new independent feature film made in Naarm, Melbourne, and set against the backdrop of the same-sex marriage postal vote. She has two new shows on JOY’s upcoming grid. “Kick It” premieres on July 15th at 4 pm and celebrates the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup taking place in Aus/NZ and “Life Is A Disco” premieres on September 7th and is a series of intimate, personal interviews featuring people who are LGBTIQA+ and from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
