Shutterstock Companies today are constantly trying to better gauge, identify, and respond to a consumer base that lives, breathes, shops, and spends a huge portion of its life online. That means marketing analytics companies are in high demand. They’re able to paint a detailed picture of consumers’ click habits, page visits, search trends, purchase activity, and a heck of a lot more based on the ever-growing volume of data they work to collect.

Shutterstock Too many CEOs and other leaders are asleep when it comes to corporate culture. Because culture seems like a soft and squishy topic, they don’t focus on it. They don’t pay attention to it. They pay attention to ‘hard’ things like dollars in and dollars out, and obviously these things are critical. What too many leaders miss is that without the right culture, the dollars won’t keep flowing in the door. Good people will get disgusted and leave.

In my time writing on the psychology of millennials at work, I’ve encountered tons of research. I relay my findings in plain English, what’s amounted to tens of thousands of words, to my readers on Forbes and via my weekly newsletter. But when people ask me, “So what do millennials need to be wildly successful and purposeful and make their dreams come true?” I stumble. There is no singular answer. My response gets complicated and boring.

Demand for big data expertise is growing every day, as more and more companies become aware of the benefits of collecting and analysing data. Unfortunately, the number of people trained to analyse this data isn’t growing in line with the demand. This creates a challenge for companies looking to hire expert people, especially for smaller firms less able to compete on salary and benefits.
