Forbidden Cinema

Welcome back as Zack and Jenny unpack all of the questions left unanswered from our discussion of American Pie.  We dig up property records and interviews with local coffee shop owners around the opening of the first Starbucks in TN.  We dive unnecessarily deep into the brief cameo of Blink182 in this film.  We wonder what is up with Natasha Lyonne and unfortunately spend a little time googling Jenny's latest word creation "tongualingusly (which I'm pretty sure just means tongue-tongue in latin-english).

Join Jenny and Zack as we push the Forbidden Timeline as far in the future as it will probably ever go.  We watch 1999's American Pie, a film we were both legally able to see.  Jenny talks about self censorship and Zack goes deep on Baptist Guilt.  The movie makes us a bit homesick for our high school years and we take several tangents into our backstory.  We hope you have as much fun as we did.

This week we try to record a follow-up episode to Teen Wolf while our new kitten, Bowie, wreaks unimaginable havoc on our sound quality... sorry audiophiles.  We make sure to clear up the timeline on 1985 being the year of Michael J Fox.  We talk about our high school nicknames and take some time to track down our patron saint.  We also spend a pretty serious tangent on the Nifty Fifty stocks in the 80s and why that is so important in this movie.

Greeting Dicknoses, join Zack and Jenny as we unpack the Michael J Fox classic, Teen Wolf. In this episode we spend a lot of time looking at the things Jenny’s parents censored, and even more at the things they didn’t. We also ask the age old question, how big of a star was MJF in 1985

Once more into the fray, we look mostly at the careers of our 3 main stars and where they went from here.  We also get quite distracted along the way.

Join us as we don’t really talk much about the movie, but go deep on 1993. We also talk about how great Zack is in missing the point and how we have to read 30 year old Vanity Fair back issues because we aren’t “getting what we need” out of Playboy.

Hold on to your butts, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.  We saw Indecent Proposal, a movie full of actors we love playing characters we don't want to meet.  This is a movie where some of the most talented and sexy people in the early 90s came together to make a film that, dare we say, defined what it meant to be sexy for a time in pop culture.  Join us as we strap in and get into a movie where nothing explodes and nobody stabs anyone.  Our steamy summer of sizzle seems to be losing steam and belly flopping into the summer of pervy middle aged men, but we will hold fast and journey through this with you.  Also this movie features the best example yet of Zack completely missing the point.

So we bought some wine featured in The Craft.  Zack thought it would be a clever idea to do a tasting.  We had to buy a half a case to get free shipping.  The reviews are not that kind, but we thought it would make a good laugh.  Turns out the joke is on us.  One of the bottles just exploded in our kitchen while we were cooking dinner.  Oh well, I guess it might as well be time for a tasting.
