Christmas can be a time of great joy but it can also trigger anxiety and stress.
Add a cancer diagnosis to the seasonal mix and we may need some help with our emotional responses.
FORCE Oncology Support Specialists Emma Ellis and Ali Ashby share some strategies for coping.
They have also compiled a list of organisations that may be able to offer help while our Support Centre is closed for the Christmas and New Year break from 4:30pm on Thursday December 23 until 9:30am on Tuesday January 4.

There's more than one way to help someone dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
Counselling is an option and the Oncology Support Specialists at FORCE Cancer Charity are all trained and accredited counsellors.
But they offer something different to cancer patients and their families when a diagnosis turns their world upside down.
In this podcast, FORCE Oncology Support Specialists Emma Ellis and Gerry Gillespie explain how they respond, often in ways that differ from traditional counselling.
They talk through how the support they offer has evolved and what a privilege it is to be a part of someone's life at such a vulnerable time.

Trouble is, it can be a bit daunting.
But it doesn't have to be.
FORCE Cancer Charity's head of income generation Sarah Daniels and former solicitor Peter Payne aim to debunk some of the myths and mysteries about making a will.
They hope this chat will help people realise how important and straightforward it can be.
Have a listen and hear for yourself.
If you want to know more about making a will, there's lots of information on the FORCE Cancer Charity website.

It takes courage to ask for help when you're feeling vulnerable and then to share that vulnerability in the hope that it will help others dealing with a cancer diagnosis. FORCE helped Phil Bailey when a diagnosis of prostate cancer turned his life upside down. Now he wants to encourage others to seek the kind of support that FORCE offers people in Devon affected by cancer. In our latest podcast, Phil speaks openly and honestly to oncology support specialist Gerry Gillespie about the impact of a diagnosis and how talking to FORCE helped him come to terms with what it meant for him and his family.

FORCE Cancer Charity hosts a number of free support groups for cancer patients and their carers because shared experiences and mutual understanding can help reduce isolation and strengthen your abilities to cope.
There are support groups made up of patients with the same cancer. Others focus on a specific subject, such as anxiety management or mindfulness with a mix of both patients and carers.
In this podcast Emma Ellis and Annie Kerr talk about the good things group support can offer and what's available at FORCE.
Healthcare professionals facilitate the majority of groups or contribute to those run by patients and carers.
Call 01392 406151 to find out about groups run by FORCE and other local and national organisations which may be able to support you.
Groups meet mostly at the FORCE Cancer Support Centre or online.
FORCE Cancer Charity Oncology Physiotherapist Louise Ballagher and Information Nurse Jayne Fahy talk about the exercise programme provided by the charity.
FORCE provides free assessments for cancer patients and our experienced staff will design a personalised exercise plan.
We also signpost patients to community exercise programmes across Devon.
FORCE Cancer Charity provides free support and information to anyone affected by cancer at our centre in Exeter and at local community hospitals.
Information nurse Annie Kerr and oncology support specialist Emma Ellis talk about all the options available.
We offer counselling, group support, complementary therapies, benefits advice, specialist physiotherapy and exercise guidance and other health and wellbeing services.
Our services don't cost a penny to local cancer patients and their families and that is made possible by the generosity of the communities we serve.
Chief Executive Meriel Fishwick and Oncology Support Specialist Emma Ellis launch the FORCE Cancer Charity podcast service with a chat about what's happening at Devon's leading independent cancer support charity.
