Our guest today is Clay Seeber, who is a current member of the Long Beach State Men’s Golf Team, and has quite the resume thus far:
2016 Rolex Junior All-American
2017 Wyndym Cup West Team Member
2018 SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup Player of the Year
In this episode, Clay shares his life experiences so far, from practicing and playing alongside many PGA Tour players such as Patrick Cantlay, Brendan Steele, and Luke List, to working with renowned swing coach Jamie Mulligan. We discuss what he has been able to learn from the best of the best and how applies those principles to his daily process.
Clay and I also discuss his many injuries through the past couple of years, and how he finds the silver lining in them to keep pushing through the adversities life throws at us.
Our guest today is Zach Smith, 2020 Scottsdale Arizona Open Champion, former UC Santa Barbara golfer turned pro, and member of the Mackenzie Tour, aka the PGA Tour Canada. Zach and I were teammates for 4 years at UCSB, where I was able to learn so much from him and watch him grow into the golfer he is today.
When we recorded this, Zach had just won the Scottsdale Arizona Open in May, shooting 63-67-62 to win by 3, beating a field with numerous former and current PGA Tour players, including being in the final pairing with current PGA Tour player Joel Dahmen. A couple weeks later, I caddied for Zach at the Southern Dunes Classic, an Outlaw Tour event, where he shot 68-69-66 to finish 2nd.
In this episode, Zach and I talk about his life journey and his quest to the PGA Tour. He goes into detail about his experiences on the big stage, what he has learned from playing with current and former PGA Tour Players, and what he believes are the most important things to work on.
I am very thankful to have my good friend Hide Yoshihara on to talk about his life journey from growing up in Japan to being part of a historic golf program at UCLA. Hide was a two time winner in college, two time runner up at the California State Amateur, two time First Team All Pac-12, California State CIF High School Champion, and two time AJGA Junior All American. We expand on topics from the mentality of going deep, preparing for tournaments, to his unique golf swing
