The VirtoScan project was started in 2015 at the Zurich Institute of Forensic Medicine. The project is dedicated to the research and development of automated 3D imaging systems for whole-body documentation in X-ray computed tomography and autopsy suites. Join us as Sören Kottner discusses how they are standardizing two-dimensional (2D) and 3D whole-body documentation and to applying it to multispectral imaging to detect, visualize, document, and preserve findings that, otherwise, might be invisible to the naked eye.

Edward Nordskog is a Fire Death Scene Expert who retired from being a full time Arson/Bomb Investigator with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department since 1997. . He has investigated 2,100 arson cases and arrested/prosecuted 300 persons for arson related offenses. He has also testified as an expert in fire/arson on over 95 cases. Involved in over 60 fatal fire investigations and 46 serial arson investigations.

Celestina Rossi is a Senior Crime Scene Investigator with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Crime Laboratory in Conroe, Texas. She has a Master Peace Officer’s License with 21 years of law enforcement experience. Since her promotion to the crime laboratory in 2002, she has been court qualified as an expert in latent print examination, bloodstain pattern analysis, crime scene reconstruction and shooting incident reconstruction.
Cele is an Adjunct Instructor for the Texas Forensic Science Academy at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) where she teaches multiple courses that include Forensic Technician (80 hrs) , Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, and Processing Evidence of Violent Crimes. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Lecturer at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas in the Forensic and Investigative Sciences Program, Department of Entomology where she teaches two mini-mester courses in Crime Scene Investigation and Latent Print Processing.

Mr. Johnson received his bachelor's degree cum laude from Kansas State University in 1975 and was awarded the Putnam Scholarship and inducted into Phi Kappa Phi honor society. He attended the University of Kansas School of Law in Lawrence, Kansas where he received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1978.
A practicing plaintiff’s trial lawyer through the 1980's, Mr. Johnson developed innovative uses of film, video and graphics for litigation and mediation. After relocating to San Jose, California in 1993, Mr. Johnson founded Second Chair Litigation Support to apply high-level demonstrative evidence techniques for major litigation projects. In 1998 Mr. Johnson co-founded Visual Forensics with Dr. Arthur Ginsburg in San Ramon, California. His animation work on a number of high profile cases received national attention, including a case involving a Marine EA-6B jet that struck a ski gondola near Cavalese, Italy, which received worldwide coverage. Mr. Johnson's work was featured on CBS 60 Minutes, NBC Today Show, ABC Good Morning America, and several network affiliates. His work was also featured several times on Court TV and has been highlighted in articles appearing in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News, Law Office Computing and other publications.
In 2002 Mr. Johnson founded Forensic Arts in Los Angeles. Today he is the founder and president of Visual Law Group in San Jose where he has pioneered the use of remote control drone technology and laser scanning for forensic visualization. Mr. Johnson is a consultant for Pix4D (the leading developer of photogrammetric mapping software) and FARO technologies (a leading manufacturer of laser scanners that have become the standard for accident reconstruction and forensic work).
To date, Mr. Johnson has handled forensic cases in every state of the union except for Vermont and Delaware. He is a frequent speaker and contributor of articles for trade publications and treatises in fields involving demonstrative evidence and computer animation.

Patrick Senft is an Associate Researcher with Armament Research Services (ARES), where he is responsible for the monthly released 3D-printed Firearms Technical Intelligence Briefing. In addition, he is conducting research on cluster munitions, landmines, and chemical weapons. Previously, Mr. Senft held positions at the Flemish Peace Institute, working on arms diversion and trafficking in the European Union, and at the Heidelberg Institute for International Conflict Research, where he monitored the post-civil war conflict in Nepal. He has conducted field research to study the disarmament and reintegration of former Maoist fighters into Nepali society and the military. Mr. Senft has a background in Physics and holds a Master of Crisis and Security Management from Leiden University in the Netherlands.

Dr. Laura Fulginiti has her PhD from the University of Arizona in 1993. She is a Board-certified forensic anthropologist at the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner Since 1991. She has adjunct faculty status with Arizona State University and a Clinical Associate Professorship in Pathology at the University of Arizona, School of Medicine. Dr. Fulginiti's research research interests include enhancement techniques for the identification of unknown human remains, age-at-death and sex determination using the pubic symphysis & sternal ends of the fourth ribs, trauma analysis including direction of force in pedestrians struck by motor vehicles and understanding dismemberment patterns.

Dr Stephen Bleay is a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science in the School of Applied Sciences at London South Bank University. He specialises in fingermark enhancement and imaging, with interests in the interactions between trace evidence, the surface it is deposited on and the environment it is exposed to. •His main research interests are in the interactions that can occur between the environment, the surface and different types of trace evidence.
