At the beginning of 2021, my friends, we had guests that started the conversation of life's priorities, and what we really want out of our lives. Not necessarily goals, but is the vision? 

How do we measure progress? 

Well, it's halfway through the year and I thought it's the perfect time to circle back on those visions.

Her name is Mindy Henderson. Mindy has an amazing story about overcoming obstacles and not being in the one that everyone is clinging to and you feel left out. How do you move forward from those things? And how do you find the passion within that really lights your soul on fire and finds the direction to move you into a space where you are not only making impact in your life, but the lives around you. 

Mindy is a motivational speaker. She is a podcaster and she is a wonderful woman who utilizes a wheelchair every single day of her life to get around.

This week, we honor fathers, and something that has been a huge part of my life is my relationship with my dad.

Those of you who follow my journey closely on social media know that my relationship with my dad is really special and I love him. In fact, some people say I am his twin, just with longer hair and bright lipstick.

I know won't be here forever. And for some of you, your dad has passed already. And we know that death is inevitable. You see for my dad, we have very small, sometimes big goodbyes throughout his life.
My dad is battling early-onset dementia of the Alzheimer's strain. And it's hard. It's hard to see my dad, the man that I always looked up to who taught me so many things start to fade away. He's still in there, though. In fact, I'm convinced he'll never forget me.
I'm his only child. I'm his only daughter. I am his best friend and he is mine. Although I didn't get to have the same conversations with my dad that I always have, throughout this podcast, you're going to hear bits of a recent conversation I had with him.

My dad is creative, thoughtful, caring, and all of that comes out, in his words, on today's Thrive For[e]ward Podcast.

The difference between intent and impact. Have you ever had a conversation with somebody and it maybe went a little bit sideways? You had no intention of your words being, or landing in the space that hurt, but they had an impact, and maybe a lasting impact. 

We are going to talk about that today as we continue our conversation with Hannah and Megs. 

We're going to talk about the difference between the intent of our conversations and how they land with the people that are important to our lives or those that we are engaging with in conversation. 

We're going to talk about how coming out can affect relationships with our parents and with other individuals in our lives, and how allies specifically can continue these conversations for the next generation. 

How do we create a culture of true inclusivity? How do we make sure that we don't define something, but rather leave open space. 

I'll share some stories with you about what we do in the Foreman household. And we're going to talk about identity shifts and how something as simple as your hair can cling to something in the past, but yet now transform into the future.

The air might feel a little extra heavy right now, are you with me?
We've been living through several pandemics at least for a minimum of 14 months.

And sometimes that comes with our own personal transitions in our lives.

Not to mention what's happening in the environments that we experience around us.

I am honored to share space with the one and only Brad Chandler, who is a public speaker, business development, and integrator of cultures.

And why might we be talking today?

Well, Brad is incredibly inspirational to me. He has this calm effect about bringing on serious topics, like finding your purpose and living authentically.

And sometimes it just feels like we need somebody to know that we don't have it all together and we're still struggling, but how do we dig deep?

How do we ground our feet in?

How do we have that purpose?

Not only in our life, both personally and professionally, but also in our financial lives.

Brad and I talk a lot about how to weave in purpose. How to step into that space that allows us to truly live our lives the way we want to, not the way somebody else tells us.
We have to know that just because both Brad and I might be entrepreneurial spirits, that doesn't mean that has to be your path to action. What's important is that you find your purpose. I hope that you enjoy this episode with Brad Chandler.

In this episode of the motherhood series on the Thrive For[e]ward Podcast, I wanted to be able to honor those mamas who really love being able to achieve in the workplace and not necessarily running their own business, but working in an element of corporate America, whether it be for a big business or a small business, but you are working on a team and working to achieve things.

However, that doesn't mean that you aren't striving really hard to grow in the other areas of your life.
And maybe you questioning where you are. Maybe you feel lost between all of the responsibilities and the titles that you carry, and what it is you really want.

What is it you really want?

That doesn't necessarily mean changing careers or changing job positions.

It's really just digging into who we are.

And I am pleased to have Nicole Fredricks Jackson, an attorney, and life and career coach.

How do you bring those two together?

Sometimes I wonder that with Nicole, but you can see how the two hearts of her world are combined.

A demanding career leads her to look inside and determine what she really wanted to do. How was she prioritizing herself? It's that age-old saying of putting your oxygen mask on first.

As moms, we have the capacity to feel like we are last on the list and everything else has taken up that space.

So how do we put ourselves first?

That's exactly where Nicole and I are going to dig into this conversation, especially for professional women who have high-powered positions and moving up.
And even those individuals who are working three jobs and just trying to stay afloat. This is for you too.
