City failed to convert a handful of real goal chances as they dominated the first half at St. Mary's Stadium. The home side had one chance and took it before the break and increased their lead just after it due to the officials not understanding the rules of the game!

A third win in a row is no mean feat and the fact that at Turf Moor City went on to achieve after going down to a goal in a match they had dominated shows the fighting spirit Michael Skubala is instilling into the players.

Everyone played their part in a game that has made City's start to the season so impressive.

City had the perfect start at Deepdale when a flowing move after just 3 minutes ended with Scott Twine scoring from close range.

What followed was not pretty and when the home side levelled after 51 minutes it was the least they deserved.

First win under Skubala thanks to another good goal which was a genuine team effort finished off with aplomb by Tolaj.

Once Knight's header made it 2-0 early in the 2nd half there was really only going to be one winner and that was us.

Dom Ballard's strike on 85 minutes was good enough to win any game and it's execution was of the highest order. It put City in front for a second time but they were denied the three points their performance deserved by a questionable penalty which Birmingham scored in the very last minute.

This was a much improved performance after City's opener against Millwall last weekend with Scott Twine playing a major part in it.

DaveP and the panel review a disappointing start to the season as City lost 2-0 at home to Millwall.

The Lions were strong early on but City fought their way back into the game until Randell's foolish challenge earned him a second yellow card and after that there was only going to be one winner.

Both goals conceded were soft and there appears little understanding between Dickie and goalkeeper Tickle who makes no attempts to dominate his 6 yard area and take crosses.

Skubala has played in a particular formation most of pre-season but threw all that out of the window for this game and why he elected to wait until half time before making the logical substitution which would have made 10 man City more solid only he will know.

More of this and it could be a long hard season.

Despite 33 shots on goal City found themselves dumped out of the Carabao Cup by League 2 Walsall.

Tickle had kept the scores level at half time with his quadruple save sequence but Tanner and Dickie were caught knapping just after the restart as Pressley scored he only goal of the game.

Beating Newcastle probably didn't help as expectations were raised going into these two games, Whilst City didn't lose either they didn't exactly impose themselves on the lower league opposition.

he Plymouth line up was the stronger side and by our reckoning no more than three of those who started the game at Exeter are likely to make it to the 11 selected for Millwall in the opening league fixture.

We've all been around long enough not to get too carried away by a 4-1 pre-season friendly win against Premier League side Newcastle United but there was much to admire about City as they raced to a 3 goal lead inside 50 minutes.

Newcastle fans numbered 3400 in an incredible match attendance (21500) for a friendly with all in the ground standing for a minutes applause to celebrate the life of Kevin Keegan who recently passed away.

Eddie Howe resigned as Newcastle's manager less than 24 hours after the final whistle and even allowing for his team's training schedule being behind City they did not sparkle at all.
