Always Growing & Flourishing
I liked that the author starts out in the introduction by discussing his qualifications to offer advice. I did feel like after reading 300 books on related subjects he may have found a way to streamline all that info. I also deeply appreciated him being transparent with his own struggles with depression which is never easy. I have read several self-help books and he didn't say much that was brand-new, it was just presented in a different way. I liked that he included the video links as well the vivid metaphors to demonstrate the concepts. I am a visual person and those kinds of things help me to focus on the message. There were a few things that stuck with me like not just installing the new belief system but changing the statements made. My favorite was "I'm too old" and "I'm not getting any younger" . It presented a different picture the latter showing anticipation for action while the former is an excuse for inaction.
I felt the author's writing style was easy to read, realistic and engaging. I agree with the author that there is a strong correlation between happiness and success. I have to continuously remind myself to start small and set deadlines. I can be a huge procrastinator which in turn makes me unhappy (Go Figure!). I also really liked that he talked about once you reach a level, work to sustain and reward yourself. Not many self-help books also mention what you should do to keep yourself motivated once you reach your goal. I would recommend it to anyone who have hit a roadblock and are ready to make a change.
concrete steps to change your mindset
Forever in Bloom is an incredibly inspiring book that can help you take the steps necessary to start living the life you want. The author shares his own story of going through a really dark time in life and how he turned himself around. He speaks in a very relatable voice, so it seemed more like getting advice from a friend than from a scammy self-help coach who just wants you to buy their products. Throughout the book Devro speaks in an encouraging way, and I felt that each small step or suggestion was manageable and possible.
