When Karen lost her brother to COVID-19, her world was forever changed. Her brother wasn’t just family—he was a dedicated first responder, committed to serving and protecting his community. His passing was recognized as a Line of Duty Death (LODD), a reminder of the risks our frontline heroes face every day, even in unseen battles like the pandemic.

In the midst of her grief, Karen chose to carry her brother’s legacy forward. Rather than allowing sorrow to silence her, she has stepped into a role of compassion and strength, honoring him by walking alongside other families who have endured similar losses. Today, she channels her love and pain into support for the first responder community, ensuring that no one navigating such heartache has to do it alone.
