Liquid markets are less expensive. Trading a market that has a 10 tick spread versus a 1 tick spread means taking on 10 times the risk versus only 1 tenth. In other words, a ten tick move can bring your trading decision to break-even or a 1 tick move can do the same. How many ticks do you want that to be? You get to decide when you choose what to trade and it's important to be aware of when there are more people trading, what times are best so you can invest and capitalize on low bid ask spreads.
