Episode 150 is here, download it now! Tournament and Hobby talk all in the same place. Say it ain’t so!
Hey guys,
We get to the first break early in this show so I can talk to the amazing Frank Turner. He came though Atlanta and gave me the opportunity to talk to him backstage at the Tabernacle theater down town. This interview part has almost nothing to do with 40k, but totally worth the listen. Since we’re on episode 150 I thought it would be cool to mix it up a bit with a music talk.
If you are not already familiar with his music please check it out and if you can make it to one of his shows.. even better. This dude is absolutely brilliant.
After the interview with Frank we get right back into the 40k talk discussing the hopeful feelings we have for all Dreadnoughts in the near future. These things are just too cool to keep sitting on the shelves.
GW hit us again this week with the Spaces Wolves FAQ. Poor old Logan Grimnar.. Once a staple of he table its possible that we may never see him again.
Please give the show a listen and let us know what you think. Thank you.

Yo,
You know my Imperium Strikes Back hard. The Super Friends are dead.. long live the Super Friends.
GW isn’t pulling any punches with their FAQ release schedule and it is great. Very few of us expected an FAQ release for a major codex so soon but we’ve got and there are some major changes.
The statement, or implication, that the Chapter Rules for Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, and Grey Knights cause a conflict with Space Marine Chapter Tactics is something I think we all knew should be the case but not how it was commonly excepted for play. The FAQ changes that under no uncertain terms. Is that what the game needs? I don’t know.
The Imperial Codex Soup is a bit too liberal when compared to other factions so maybe reigning it in a bit is a good thing. I know a lot of people are tired of seeing chapter masters, Samael and Iron Priest hanging out together. We argue a bit about the true effect of this change on the show and run down a few other stand out points.
Drop Pods… Sort of like magnets now, they are a total mystery. How do they work? I am not sure anyone knows. The closest we came to figuring it out is that they must be fired with the doors wide open from orbit to then fling the marines a solid 11 inches out of their harnesses creating 22 inch or more objective secure bubble. Whao… Is this the intent or is this just a case of Rules as Written and True Line of Sight and worrying about the actual model’s physical profile creating a perfect storm of biting us in the behind?!

Hey Everybody,
I am over the moon for the Warhammer Quest: The Silver Tower. I got to play through it over the weekend and had a blast! Hopefully you guys have had a chance to check it out by now and if you haven’t I highly recommend it.
The second part of the show we get back on track with some 40k talk. We talk about battle brothers could be one of the things you tailor to the folks in your area. Whatever gets folks to the tables, right?!

Yo Guys,
We have some very special guests this week from Frontline Gaming. Reece and Frankie get down and dirty with us to go over a few contentious points in the new GW draft FAQ. These guys are some of the best in the scene and we really appreciate them taking some time out to come on our show.
Personally I think this FAQ is draft in name only and that, to me, it is very clear that GW intends to change a few things about the game that will RADICALLY alter how certain armies play. This FAQ changes enough about the game that it is almost a whole new edition. Warhammer 40k 7.5, maybe?. Is that a real thing? No… but it feels like it, without having to go through a full on edition change and we’re getting these game enhancements for free, sort of..
That’s a good thing. The content GW has been putting out is freaking amazing. This is a real renaissance for the company and us as gamers/customers. The GW FAQ is awesome and it directly points to Games Workshop wanting to have an open dialogue and relationship with their customer base again. As a long time fan this makes me incredibly happy. The points we are critical about in the show are just that… points we thought needed more discussion. GW, through their Facebook page, is currently soliciting the community’s feedback and we thought discussing things like this on the show may help frame some of those feedback exchanges in a positive way.
Also! The Frontline folks dropped some amazing Warmarchine information on us during the show. The are now making officially licensed mats for Warmahordes. We give a little good natured ribbing to Warmachine during the discussion but this announcement is GREAT! Please check out a few of the new designs below.
This episode is jam packed… so packed its almost 30 mins longer than I regular shows. We take a few minutes during the middle to speak with the organizers from Battle Haven – a gaming retreat in scenic Utah.

Hey all,
If you like flyers you are going to like this episode. Speed is life, altitude is life insurance and the probability of survival is equal to the angle of arrival.
Flyers have been marginalized, competitively, for quite some time and the new Death from the Skies Warhammer 40k Supplement changes that – in a big way. The best part about this book is that it is good for every army.
I’m not just blowing smoke. Flyers now have a special rule that can give your force Air Superiority. This rule can give you a big leg up against armies that “Null Deploy” or otherwise rely on reserves to help them win the game.

Hey guys,
The draft FAQ from GW is huge, comprehensive and nothing short of amazing. It is clear that the intent of this document is to put the breaks on a lot of the things that have been ‘plaguing’ the competitive scene.
We give some initial impressions on the new Death from the Skies book but at this point it is just surface level stuff from us. We are sort of waiting to see what some of the major events around the country are looking to do with it before we weigh in.

Yo,
We talk a lot about restrictions on tournaments in this episode. I know that is a sticky topic, and I am all for no holds barred play but… I also believe in tournament organizers doing what is right for their local scene.
We’ve talked before about type 1, type 2 and type 3 play. We talk a little bit about what Type 1 might look like in this episode.
Battle Forged Armies Only
No Gargantuan Creatures
0-1 Imperial Knight
No Other Super Heavy Vehicles
No Formations that give free upgrades/wargear
Your Primary Detachment must have at least 2 Troop choices
Psychic Phase!!!!1111oneone:
Psykers can contribute no more than 11 Warp Charge Dice per phase (no matter how many are in your army). Your army can have more psykers but the WC they generate is capped.

If you are a fan of Chaos Space Marines or at least want to know what people may be playing in the near future you do not want to miss this episode. We spend a little time on some must notice entries in IA 13 from Forge World. A poor man’s Coteaz and a sure fire way to drop Void Shields..

Yo everyone,
We get pretty deep on this episode with a couple of heavy topics bracketed by our normal banter. Perfection being the enemy of the good is not a new topic but we specifically get into how it effects our hobby time.
Please let us know if you’ve experienced anything like we talk about here and how you’ve gotten over it. The audio gets a little wonky in the second half. Its not bad at all but I apologize in advance.
