A strong thread through the episode is the difference between conviction and condemnation. Conviction leads a person back to God with honesty and change, while condemnation keeps pointing the finger and trying to lock the past in place. Through the blood of Jesus Christ, repentance leads to peace, renewed confidence before God, and full restoration into fellowship.
