Throughout Scripture, Yahweh portrays Himself as compassionate, abounding in lovingkindness and, above all, eager to forgive our iniquity. Forgiveness can be illustrated as the untying of a cord that is legitimately holding a debt owed. To withhold forgiveness is to entangle ourselves in the same knot, alienating us from the grace by which we are saved.
