  • A Better Covenant, Better Promises, Better High Priest
Hebrews 8:1–6 teaches that Jesus Christ is the perfect High Priest who ministers in the true heavenly sanctuary, not in an earthly tabernacle made by human hands. Unlike the priests of the old covenant, whose ministry was temporary and symbolic, Jesus' priesthood is eternal and complete. This reminds believers that our relationship with God is now founded on a better High Priest who continually intercedes for us. Through Him, we have direct access to God's presence, giving us confidence, hope, and assurance that His work of salvation is fully sufficient. The passage also emphasizes that Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant established on better promises. The old covenant pointed people toward God's plan of redemption, but the new covenant fulfills that plan through Christ. God's promises now include complete forgiveness of sins, a transformed heart, and an enduring relationship with Him. As believers, we are called to trust in these better promises, live faithfully under Christ's leadership, and rejoice in the certainty that His covenant offers lasting grace, peace, and eternal life.

  • Don't Walk Like They Do
The sermon exhorts believers to reject the vain and darkened mindset of the unsaved by consciously adopting a lifestyle of holiness. Drawing from Ephesians 4, the message emphasizes the necessity of putting off corrupt behaviors such as lying, harbored anger, and greed while putting on the new man characterized by truth, forgiveness, and kindness. The preacher warns that believers must actively guard their speech and emotions to avoid grieving the Holy Spirit and giving ground to the devil. It stresses that salvation necessitates a tangible transformation in daily conduct, urging Christians to let Scripture rather than worldly influences dictate their actions. Ultimately, the text calls for personal responsibility in pursuing spiritual growth and maintaining purity in thought and deed.

  • Adult Duties, Child-Size Faith
Oh to be a child again without the adult duties! As a child we had few cares. But with adulthood comes more responsibilities. The same is true in the spiritual realm. With spiritual maturity comes more duties. Jesus delineated in Luke 17 not only the adult duties we have towards one another, but also towards God. It is an adult thing for us not to cause an offense for others to sin, to rebuke open sin in a brother, and to forgive upon repentance. It is an adult duty for us to serve God using the gifts God has given to us. To do such duties which are difficult, we might be tempted to think, like His disciples, that we need to have increased faith. But all we need is to exercise what little faith we might have-- child-size, child-like faith. For God is able to do the impossible as we trust Him!
