Forgiveness is a process that allows us to release our attachments to past, present, and future pain. Whether we are recovering from deep trauma or just simply experiencing an everyday offense that stirs hurt feelings, the act of conscious forgiveness and release can help us heal and grow. Often our pain can teach us a lesson in compassion for ourselves and others, including the ones who may have hurt us. If we challenge ourselves to take a more compassionate look towards the pain of our trespassers that cause their behavior, we can more easily separate ourselves from the behavior and not be burdened with the pain that isn’t serving us. We forgive so we can heal and renew. As with many of these deep concepts, the process of forgiveness can take time, requires compassion, and is part of a greater awareness of becoming whole our on our own behalf. As we forgive ourselves, others, and our ancestors, we begin to pass on the ability to love deeply and allow people to thrive in being.
