Edits and Corrections: Taiho did not sink on an even keel. Taiho lurched to port and slid under on her side. Truk was attacked by carrier, not land-based aircraft, in 1944.
Winston Churchill orders an attack on the French Fleet in order to keep the ships from falling in to the hands of Nazi Germany. The attack turns into a political mistake and sows discord between allies. One of the most interesting and debated decisions of Churchill during World War 2.

In order to break the stalemate in Vietnam American forces begin ramping up large scale Search and Destroy Operations to root out Vietcong from the interior of South Vietnam. Operation Attleboro had some success but not as much as was hoped for. This Operation became a template for future operations in Vietnam.
