This Christmas Season we are going to be looking at the Journey of Christmas, inspired by the wise men who took a long journey to see Jesus…We’ll look at the journey that Jesus took, the journey of the wise men, and the result of those journeys. Today, we will talk about gifts. This also has a strong connection to the wise men because they took their long journey bearing gifts for Jesus and his parents. Jesus made His journey here to earth to live among us bearing gifts. He himself was a gift. John 3:16 says for God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten son. He also brought us the gifts of truth, mercy, & hope. There is another gift that Christ gave that we probably think of less often or at least as less of a gift… Christ gave the world the church. He says I establish and build my church and the gates of Hell will no prevail against it. The church is a gift to the world because it goes on the offensive against evil. The church carries the hope of the World. God gave the World His Son and He called the church to share that gift with the world. This is the underlying premise of Ephesians 4. The church has been given to give Christ to the World. Paul has been planting these churches in city after city.
