A high school catcher in the same draft class as Mike Trout, Bailey once had first-round potential and a commitment to Auburn. But Tommy John surgery hurt his draft stock. He fell to the fourth round, where the Rays nabbed him and signed him to an over-slot bonus. But the grind of the lower levels coupled with persistent injuries took their toll on Bailey.
