  • Hive Openmic Community. Week #211. Cover of “This is the Air I Breathe” by @fortunebassey.

Hey everyone! Great to be back! I'm @fortunebassey, and this week I'm exited to share my cover of "This is the air I Breathe" by Hillsong Worship. Stay tuned!
Hillsong Worship is a Christian worship music group from Sydney, Australia, and is part of Hillsong Church. They are known for their contemporary and influencial worship music, which has impacted churches and belivers worldwide.
This week's theme, "Breathe" aligns perfectly with my chosen song "This is the Air I Breathe" by Hillsong Worship. The theme invites us to explore the idea of breath, life, and sustenance, which beautifully captures the heart of it.
The lyrics "This is the Air I Breathe" reflect the theme's emphasis on breath as a source of energy. The song's declaration of dependence on God's Spirit and surrender to His will resonates with the idea of breathing in His presence and guidance.
Just as our physical bodies needs air to breathe, our spiritual souls need the "breath" of God's love and grace to survive and thrive, and this song serves as a powerful reminder of our need for Him in every moment.
My inspiration for choosing this song is rooted in the significant influence it has had on my spiritual growth and developement. During a challenging season, this song became my anthem, reminding me of God's unwavering presence and grace.
The lyrics found a home in my heart, speaking directly to my soul. The song's declaration of dependence on God's Spirit and surrender to His will resonated with my desire to trust Him more fully. The repetition of "This is the Air I Breathe" became a reminder that my very existence relies on His life-giving breath.
I'm drawn to the song's courageous transparency and heartfelt vulnerability. The writers willingness to expose their weaknesss and doubts create a safe space for me to comfront my own. The song's message of hope and surrender encourages me to release my fear and trust in God's goodness.
For me, "This is the Air I Breathe" represents a heart cry, a desperate plea for God's presence and guidance. It symbolizes the tender and precious relationship we have with Him. Through this song, I hope to convey the depth of emotion and devotion that i experience when I play it.
By performing this cover, I aim to convey the intimate connection between our breath and our faith and how releasing control to God can usher in a season of spiritual refreshment and growth. I aspire to create a moment of togetherness, where we can collectively breathe in God's love and exhale our fears, doubts, and worries.
So calm your nerves, sit back, and enjoy the experience!

  • AFRI-TUNES week 111 / Alone - Neeja (Cover by @fortunebassey)
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=fortunebassey/dxavbvni
Hello Afri-tuness community, I'm @fortunebassey and I'm delighted to be back with some exiting news! This week, I'll be sharing my cover of "Alone" by Neeja, a song that holds a special place in my heart. I'm eager to share my interpretation with you all amd hope you enjoy it!
I'm thrilled to be performing "Alone" by Neeja for this music competition. I was drawn to this song because of its mesmerizing melody and powerful lyrics, which speak directly to my soul. The haunting beauty of the music and the emotional depth of the words have a profound impact on me, making this song a deeply personal and meaningful choice.
As someone who has experience feelings of isolation and disconnection, I find comfort in Neeja's heartfelt vocals and the song's athmospheric instrumentation.
For me, "Alone" represents the universal human experience of feeling lost and disconnected in a chaotic world. The song's theme of longing, vulnerability, and self-discovery speak directly to my own struggles with anxiety and self and self-doubt.
Neeja's words serve as a gentle reminder that even when we feel most isolated, we are always part of a larger community, and that understanding and support can be found in the unlikeliest of places.
What draws me to this song is its ability to capture the depths of human experience. Neeja combines electronic and indie music to create a unique sound that is more dreamy and personal. I am excited to bring my own interpretation to this stunning piece, blending it with my unique sound and style.
Performing "Alone" is more than just a demonstration of my keyboard skills; I'm sharing a deeply personal and emotional experience with the audience. It's about sharing the message of hope and solidarity with others who have felt the sting of loneliness.
My goal is for my performance to encourage others to embrace their weakness and discover the empowerment that can be found in quiet reflection and solitude.
Please feel free to make it your own by merging your personal stories and emotions. I encourage you to put your own spin on it and make it a genuine expression of who you are!

  • Hive Open Mic Week 210 - Rise Up (Cover) @fortunebassey
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=fortunebassey/xwtaksat
Hi everyone! It's a pleasure to be part of this wonderful community and share my love of music with you all.
While pondering and meditating on the theme "Reborn from Fire" presented by the creative @lifenix, I would say that life is a roller coaster of highs and lows. Sometimes when something bad happens, like a natural disaster or a personal tragedy, it can feel like everything is destroyed. But in some cases, out of that destruction, something new and better can unfold. It's like how a forest can regrow after a wildfire, or how a person can find strength and wisdom after going through a tough time. This process is sometimes called 'Reborn from Fire' because it's like being reborn out of the ashes of the past.
Well, I knew there were many songs that could perfectly capture the spirit of this theme. After much consideration, I finally arrived at a song titled "Rise Up", written and composed by one of my favorite artist by name Andra Day.
Andra Day is a talented American singer and song writer known for her powerful voice and lyrics. She has established herself as a formidable force in both the music and film industries, having crafted numerous captivating and thought-provoking songs, including 'Rise Up' and 'Strange Fruit', while also earning praise for her performances on the sylver screen. She is a rising star with a voice that captivates a message and connects deeply with many.
I believe that the song "Rise Up" truly embodies the essence of being reborn from the flames of adversity. The inspiring words of 'Rise Up' have been a source of and encouragement and strength for me during challenging times. Andra Day's powerful vocals and heartfelt delivery flawlessly capture the hopeful message and determination that lie at the heart of the song.
This song speaks to the human spirit, to our capacity for endurance and our ability to overcome even the darkest of circumstances. By choosing to perform this song, I really hope to share that message of hope with others who may be struggling or in need of a reminder that they too can rise up.
Do well to relax, let the music wash over you and take you to a place of peace and relaxation. Enjoy the experience!
    ***Lyrics***
    You're broken down and tired
Of living life on a merry go round
And you can't find the fighter
But I see it in you so we gonna walk it out
    And move mountains
    And I'll rise up
    I'll rise like the day
    I'll rise up
    I'll rise unafraid
    I'll rise up
And I'll do it a thousand times again
    And I'll rise up
    High like the waves
    I'll rise up
    Inspite of the ache
    I'll rise up
And I'll do it a thousand times again
    For you
    For you
    For you
    For you
    When the silence isn't quite
And it feels like it's getting hard to breathe
And I know you feel like dying
But I promise we'll take the world to its feet
    And move mountains
    Bring it to it's feet
    And move mountains
    And I'll rise up
    I'll rise like the day
    I'll rise up
    I'll rise unafraid
    I'll rise up
And I'll do it a thousand times again
    For you
    For you
    For you
    For you
All we need, all we need is hope
And for that we have each other
And for that we have each other
    And we will rise
    We will rise
    We'll rise, oh, oh
    We'll rise
    I'll rise up
    Rise like the day
    I'll rise up
    In spite of the ache
I will rise a thousand times again
    And we'll rise up
    High like the waves
    We'll rise up
    In spite of the ache
    We'll rise up
And we'll do it a thousand times again
    For you
    For you
    For you
    For you
    Ah, ah, ah, ah
