On this week’s Truth To Power, we gather in the virtual studio for a community conversation with Howie Hawkins, co-founder and presumptive presidential nominee of the U.S. Green Party. He is one of the original Greens in the United States, having participated in the first national meeting to organize a US Green Party in St. Paul, Minnesota in August 1984. Howie became active in “The Movement” for civil rights and against the war in Vietnam in the 1960s as a teenager in the San Francisco Bay Area. From the start, he was committed to independent working-class politics for a democratic, socialist, and ecological society.
Forward Radio’s Justin Mog (Sustainability Now!) and Hart Hagan (The Climate Report / Let’s Talk)are joined by Jake Bush from DSA Louisville (http://dsalouisville.org) for Forward Radio's first interview with a Presidential Candidate!
Hawkins’ running mate is Angela Walker, born and raised in a working-class Black family in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their platform includes:
- COVID-19 Emergency Measures for the Duration of the Crisis
- Ecosocialist Green New Deal
- Peace Policies
- Economic Bill of Rights
- Socialist Economy
- Political Democracy
- Social Justice
- Criminal and Civil Justice
- Media Democracy

On Truth to Power each week, we gather Forward Radio programmers and friends to discuss the state of the world, the nation, the state, and the city. It's a community conversation like you won't hear anywhere else!
Truth to Power airs every Sunday at 4pm, Monday at 2pm, and Tuesday at 9am on Louisville's grassroots, community radio station, Forward Radio 106.5fm WFMP and live streams at http://forwardradio.org
