Forward, Together

It's the final countdown! Full disclosure: we took a one week pause from the podcast last week as we were dealing with a personal issue and we needed a breather but George and Suzanne are back to wrap things up heading into the election and budget vote on May 20, 2025 at ther Howitt Middle School Aquatic Center from 6am-9pm. The team does a dive into the budget and they share their final thoughts with the community. Let's get to the polls and make our voices heard, Farmingdale!

EDITORIAL UPDATE: The episode notes that 50 teachers took part in the district's retirement incentive. It was actually 50 employees (across multiple bargaining units) that took part in the retirement incentive. As noted in the episode, out of the 50 individuals that took part only 40 people were rehired in their place.

Hosted by community leader and FHS Wall of Famer George Andriopoulos and Vice-President and 3-term FSD Board of Ed trustee Suzanne D'Amico.

This is a BIG one. This episode is about an hour and twenty minutes and it is chock full of REAL data on the academic performance of Farmingdale School District. George and Suzanne talk about the reasons behind some of the roadblocks that the district has faced as well as the plan of action that the district has undertaken to remedy less than impressive numbers from the past, from a 30,000 foot perspective.

All data comes from the presentation put together by Dr. Jen Olsen to the board of education. Links to all academic and curriculum resources can be found here: https://sites.google.com/farmingdaleschools.org/curriculumandinstruction/curriculum-instruction

It's time for our first topic of conversation along this journey to the board of educations: SCHOOL SECURITY. This has always been a hot topic in our neck of the woods and with the recent shooting at Florida State University, Suzanne and George thought that it was important to take inventory of where Farmingdale is as a district in terms of security and to discuss the evolution of the process.
