John 7:37-39

At the end of the Great Feast, Jesus makes a bold claim – “come to me and drink.” The promise of God’s all-satisfying provision is fulfilled in his son, Jesus Christ. But what does it mean to be thirsty and to come to Christ to drink? What is the Living Water which flows from the heart of the satisfied?

Psalm 8

Psalm 8 proclaims the wondrous goodness of God to his creation, and his worthiness to be praised by his creation. It also points us to Christ, who is the ultimate revelation of God’s goodness and greatness.

Psalm 73

When we begin to perceive the “prosperity” of the wicked and question the value of our own commitment to honor God and pursue holiness, the issue is not envy or jealousy. It is unbelief. Psalm 73 is a serious help and reminder of the sacred principle that God is good to his children and it is good to be near to God.

Psalm 44

Psalm 44 helps us orient our response to tragedy and uncertainty in a Godward direction. When faced with trial and honest frustration, how do we avoid the hope-blindness of distrust in God’s covenant faithfulness? By reminding ourselves of the inseparable love of God toward us in Christ Jesus his Son.

1 Peter 5

As the Apostle Peter closes out his first letter, he reminds his readers of the source of their strength during their suffering-filled exile — their salvation. The gifts God gives the church, such as elders, are aids in the long journey home.

Psalm 32

Psalm 32 is a reminder of God’s gracious and free gift of forgiveness offered to those who turn to him in genuine confession and repentance. Our knowledge of the mercy of God moves us to pray, humbly submit, and gladly follow him on the path of joy.

Psalm 121 (Guest Preacher Roy Garza)

Psalm 121 is a testimony to God’s faithfulness to comfort and support his people. He helps those who can not help themselves, and provides the surest help of all – his Son, Jesus Christ.

Psalm 23

Three promises are true for those of whom the Lord is their shepherd: God’s peace, God’s presence, and God’s protection. Each of these promises are given to us in Christ. Psalm 23 paints a picture of the character of Christ as our good shepherd.

Psalm 2

From the glory of God’s word to the glory of God’s Son, Psalm 2 admonishes its readers to consider the futility of holding God’s word his anointed, and thus God himself, in contempt. We must find ourselves loyal subjects to the King, or be defeated as enemies of his Kingdom.

Psalm 1

In the opening chapter to the Book of Psalms, we see how the Psalms help shape our emotions and anchor us in the truth — by the word of God as the foundation of life and path toward God Himself.
