As the Apostle Peter closes out his first letter, he reminds his readers of the source of their strength during their suffering-filled exile -- their salvation. The gifts God gives the church, such as elders, are aids in the long journey home.

The vision of every church must be marked by a hope in the return of Christ, and a desire for covenant diversity and community. As the church engages with the world around it, this vision will influence and guide us as Kingdom ambassadors.

In one of the most important passages concerning the nature of the church, we discover the Christian's identity, the church's function, and the gospel's message.

1 Timothy 3:8-13

Godly leadership is essential to a healthy church. We need deacons that lead the church in service and humility, displaying the demonstrative power of the gospel and the self-sacrificial life of Jesus.

1 Timothy 3:1-7 | The importance and nobility of the work of an elder demands proper qualification from those who would fill its office. What are those qualifications, and what is the primary role of an elder in the church?

1 Timothy 5

Paul instructs the church to take on a godly posture toward one another, those in need, and their leadership.

Psalm 73

When we begin to perceive the "prosperity" of the wicked and question the value of our own commitment to honor God and pursue holiness, the issue is not envy or jealousy. It is unbelief. Psalm 73 is a serious help and reminder of the sacred principle that God is good to his children and it is good to be near to God.

Psalm 121 is a testimony to God's faithfulness to comfort and support his people. He helps those who can not help themselves, and provides the surest help of all - his Son, Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 2:1-4

Jesus is more valuable than Angels. Therefore, we must pay closer attention to Him. We are warned, that if we do not do this, we will drift away. Our lives should be spent clinging to Jesus as our anchor so that we will not be in danger of falling by the way side.
