What does it mean to be a man? And how does a boy know when he has become a man?

He needs a rite of passage to overcome. Masculinity must be sought out, hunted, and captured.

Have your children memorize things that are good, beautiful, and true. It doesn't matter if they understand it or not. Just get it in there. Understanding comes later. Creativity comes later.

Don't deflate the zeal of your sons as they set out to complete a task. Don't nitpick. Set the parameters and let them run wild and free.

Read anything and everything to your kids, especially poetry, and you'll find that you have improved in public speaking.

Your words should have weight to them. Treat them as if they mean something, and your children will follow that example. Do your best to keep every promise you make to them.

Men want to be used up and spend. They want to be respected for doing something useful, no matter their age. Do not let the older men in your life waste away.

Complaining and casting blame on something else is a failure of nerve. You are the captain. You are responsible.

Do something about it.

Even if your kids lie and give you a reason not to trust them...you should trust first. Love covers a multitude of sins.

When you are dealing with your children, you should encourage them to obey the spirit of the law. If you know they have tried to do that, then the letter of the law doesn’t matter so much. Give them credit.
