It's not worship just because you go to church on Sunday morning and sing.

What are you doing the rest of the week?

While many believe they can worship God in their own way, God gave us 9 Hebrew words for worship and showed us how we can use them to worship Him in our own person lives seven days a week!

Show Notes For This Foundational Podcast:

    Psalm 150:6

"Let everything that has breath praise the LORD."

Are you breathing? Then you ought to be praising and developing a culture of worship in your own heart and life.

9 Hebrew Words for Worship and How We Use Them

That culture of worship in your life is cultivated as you

    • Acknowledge God's greatness and His nature
      • He is omnipotent
      • He is omniscient
      • He is omnipresent
      • He is love
      • He is immutable
    • Remember His mighty acts
      • What has God done for you?
      • Reflect on His redemptive work

Every kingdom has an enemy; a kingdom that hates that kingdom and culture; a kingdom that wants to overthrow that kingdom.

    God's kingdom has an enemy

And he hates you, and wants to destroy you.

But God has given you mighty weapons to destroy the enemy.

"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:18-19

"And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. John 14:13

"And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:15-18

    Our mighty weapons:
    • Keys of the kingdom
    • The mighty name of Jesus Christ
    • The whole armor of God - Ephesians 6:10-18
The mightiest weapon we have is the most overlooked weapon - the weapon of worship

"O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, who have set Your glory above the heavens! Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger." Psalm 8:1-2

"Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand, To execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples;" P

The kingdom of God is a culture of worship.

So often men neglect worship because they think it's a "woman thing". But when we look at the Bible, we see that it was a manly thing.

    David was a worshiper.

But the worship that King David had was lost by the time Jesus was born

Show Notes For This Foundational Podcast:

    John 4:24

"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

2 Foundational Truths the Church Needs to Know About Worship

By the time Jesus was born, worship had become very controlled. The spontaneity was gone. Instruments weren't allowed. Only certain people could sing

    • Worship is a matter of the heart
      • When our heart is full of offense and bitterness, we can't worship
      • American culture is saturated in offense today
      • We need to learn to stop living in the spirit of offense
      • You can't develop a heart of worship when you have a heart of offense
    • Worship in Spirit and in truth
      • Spirit is an expression of the heart
      • When our heart is free we can have a spirit of worship
      • Truth is God's Word as the foundation for our life
      • God prescribed worship in the Bible

    "Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations." Psalm 100

"But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord." "And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you." John 14:13-20 If you enjoyed this podcast, please consider leaving us a review.
