As we continue talking about what it means to be formed into the image of Jesus, this week we are looking at Jesus' most pronounced, counter-cultural statement: "IF YOU WANT TO BECOME LIKE ME, YOU MUST DENY YOURSELF,  TAKE UP YOUR CROSS, AND FOLLOW ME."

In Matthew chapter 9, verses 12 and 13, Jesus says, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

In Matthew chapter 11, verses 28-30, Jesus says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
