All human turbulence occurs as a result of our rejection of God and His truth. Because of the imperfection brought about by sin, we find ourselves separated from our Creator and at odds with His purposes. We are born into such turbulence.
"And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." - 1 Peter 2:4,5
I don’t really want to write this part, but it would be unfair of me not to include it inasmuch as my curious journey, like yours, has contained its share of disappointments. Perhaps being an oldest I have felt greater compulsion to fix things that don’t go quite right. I call this older brother syndrome. There MUST always be a solution.
"He sends out His command to the earth and His word runs very swiftly. He gives snow like wool and He scatters the frost like ashes. He throws out His ice as fragments; who can stand before His cold? Then He sends out His word and melts them; and He causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow." - Psalm 147:15-18
Part of who we are as humans made in the image of God is our ability to apply our sense of wonder to life and to our life-pursuits. Some have this beat out of us by our experiences or the people around us, yet others find their sense of wonder unlocked and multiplied by science, philosophy, and/or faith pursuits. Much is spoken about the value of expanding the mind, but what about the expanding of the heart and soul?
Finding life-strength is most often unlocked by love. Because God IS love, love for Him and others is core to living with a satisfied mind and soul. When God is our purpose and focus, we are truly awake.
Hope can be an elusive thing. While we are living within fallen humanity we are told that we are offspring of a perfect God Who cannot tolerate evil. This is a huge paradox, particularly when this One True God is also slow to anger and overflowing with lovingkindness!
I am reading a book right now that includes data about DNA strands. It is written through the eyes of a coder. I cannot relate to the math, but the explanation helps me to contemplate the amazingly complex designs in cells, etc. This author is one of many over the past
"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." - Hebrews 4:12
Significance is an interesting contemplation. How do I make my mark? How long will I have to get it right? Will tech bring me the promised advances and freedoms so many promise?
