In my first book, Curious Journey, I wrestled with the value of my personal story.  Having grown up around what I thought to be purity in collection and interpretation of data (science) and being quite versed in modern philosophy, I had separated faith from the rest of my story...

A reasonable review of history often reveals a bleak picture concerning the propensity mankind has for selfishness and domination. There are truly evil people, of course, but perhaps more insidious can be our personal callousness toward others. This is particularly damaging when we lose our compass regarding the value of another.

The world is an imperfect place in which personal turbulence impacts all of us. I have found that it takes personal courage and effort to get to the root of the how, where, what, who, and especially the why of life. Challenging our own ideas when it comes to deeper issues can help direct our compass as we find our way. The wisdom principle can guide us through personal challenges - both near and epic in scope.

One of the great gifts of life is to find joy in the midst of personal suffering and chaos. Imperfection can become a friend to the suffering heart because it can move us to places we wouldn’t choose to go. This journey can drive us toward something greater and allow us to find true satisfaction of heart, mind, and soul...

A couple of years ago I taught a series of conversations about living with a clear conscience - which, in my mind - is the true purpose of God's Law (the Ten Commandments). A clear conscience leads to personal freedom, and this is God's total intent for His children. Though we live in the Turbulence of Imperfection, we have been given grace to live here in freedom.

You will find that as your years unfold within your God-ordained days there will be watershed moments of realization and meaning. I have written several books as each of these pivots has occurred. The first, Curious Journey, has to do with my unfolding conclusions about the importance of personal story. The God Story reveals a Creator Father with unlimited capacity for relationships. Because He is so vast (and great) on both a molecular and cosmological basis, He literally holds all things together by the "word of His power." Check this out. Before we enter into God’s Kingdom through Jesus (John 10) our spiritual father has been the evil one (the devil/John 8). Think what this means if true. Being born into a world at war leads us to believe lies and to make agreements which ensure we will be caught in various kinds of bondage for our souls. The nature and work of the adversary is to distract us from freedom and to serve him. Jesus, on the other hand, wants us to be free to be joined to Him in friendship as we live out our earth days - preparing us for our eternity to come.
