Joy is a serious issue for the Christian. We are commanded to be joyful in the Lord. This joy of the Lord is our strength. Finally, our joy in the Lord, which empowers us glorifies God.

It is foolish to resist God, yet life and peace to humbly submit.

It is difficult not to make excuses for our sin, since it is part of our fallen nature. But God is calling us to be mature and gladly assume responsibility for our thoughts, words and deeds. We are Christians because Jesus assumed responsibility for our sins (1 Pet. 2:24). Thus, he is not only our Savior, but our example to follow.

Proverb 29:27 addresses the mutual enmity that exists between the righteous and the wicked. This is a fierce animosity that has been in place since the fall, and there are dangers that the Christian needs to be aware of.

The wicked experience fear due to a guilty conscience and the judgment of God. The righteous are bold due to a cleansed conscience and the blessing of God, among other reasons.

Pentecost is a reminder of how the presence of God within us, is even a greater blessing than the presence of God with us.

An omnipresent God takes great delight in rewarding his children. Apart from such faith in God it is impossible to please him.

When Peter preached an evangelistic message on the day of Pentecost, his gospel sermon included the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ. And the ascension was the climax of good news, which cut his audience to the heart. This has obvious implications for our evangelism today.
