In Proverbs 5, half of 6, and all of 7 Solomon exhorts his son to avoid adultery. He devotes almost 3 full chapters to this issues because he knows it is going to be an issue for his young son. To escape the immoral woman, Solomon to you to listen to our parents, recognize your vulnerability, consider the consequences, enjoy your spouse, live Coram Deo (in God's presence).

Christianity can be briefly summarized as believing in Jesus, who is "the Way," and then walking in the way that the Scriptures set before us. Solomon reminds his son that he has taught him the way of wisdom. He then admonishes his son to stay on the way of wisdom, avoid the way of wickedness, and ponder the way of his feet.

As a person enters into the presence of a holy God they are immediately confronted with their sin and guilt. And as more than one author noted, guilty people are easy to control or manipulate. Thankfully, God has provided atonement for sin through the death of his Son, so that we now have peace with God, and our guilt is taken away, allowing us to live and serve God in freedom.

By the Spirit's help, we are called to be faithful in all things, big and small, just as our heavenly Father is faithful in all He does.

As we look at this text, we can observe not only what it teaches, but also what it illustrates, namely, how to an an influence upon future generations. To impact future generations requires, at least, vision, instruction, and promises.

Sometimes, like Abraham and Sarah, we have to wait years, or maybe even decades for the arrival of laughter. But Jesus has promised, "Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh" (Lk. 6:21).

Only in better understanding the infinite glory and majesty of Jesus, as eternal God and Creator, do we begin to see who we are and what He has done for us.

Christian lament is a faith-filled tool to bring our pain and grief to God, without grumbling, trusting in His power and faithfulness to work all things for good, remembering that God always keeps His promises.

When most people think of the book of Jonah, they are draw to the prophet being swallowed by a great fish. However, the main message of the book is about God's eagerness and willingness to forgive repentant sinners.

Sin robs us of the joy of our salvation. The good news is that this joy can be restored through confession of sin.
