In part II of this incredible episode with special guest Michael Cusick, we continue the deep dive into what lurks beneath the growing epidemic of porn addiction.  As Michael unpacks the 5 W's of our brokenness, we begin to see how our awareness and acceptance of both our brokenness and our wholeness and our willingness to simply hold these two in tension is exactly what God desires for our lives and leads to a freedom that perhaps we've never known.  Let's face it, the alternative is an exhausting, hamster wheel endeavor.  Take a listen and you'll see what we mean.

Michael is a gifted speaker, teacher, and clinical counselor.  As the Founder and CEO of Restoring the Soul and renowned author of Surfing for God: Discovering the Divine Desire Beneath Sexual Struggle, Michael's personal story of brokenness is the very bridge God used to bring wholeness to his own life, as well as, what God continues to use to bring hope and healing to others.  DO NOT MISS THIS!

In this incredible episode with special guest Michael Cusick, we begin to take a deep dive into what lurks beneath the growing epidemic of porn addiction.  But wait, there's more!  Michael's perspective is one that is FULL OF HOPE for those afflicted with an addiction to acting out their sexual brokenness.   Let's just cut right to the end...if you want to get over porn, buy a pocket knife.  Well, not really, but listen in and it will all make sense.

Here are just a few valuable nuggets from this episode:

“It’s the deceitful whisper of porn that says ‘THIS will make you a real man’”

“Two things that seemingly contradict can actually be held side by side and in doing so there’s a 3rd thing.  Wholeness doesn’t simply contradict brokenness or result from ending the struggle of sin, but rather comes from allowing the darkness and the light to be there together.”

“Freedom is not just freedom FROM something, but also moving TOWARD something.”

“Transformational community is so critical because just like we’re wounded in relationship, we also HEAL in relationship.”

“Fighting against porn is a losing battle.  Rather than fighting against porn, let’s fight for the heart of man to become whole.  That’s a battle that can be won.”

However, the overarching theme discussed is how the gift of God's grace, the ultimate act of forgiveness is meant to be stewarded.

In Episode 5, we hear from special guest, Pete Zaremba about brokenness and suffering and their role in the process of transformation.  How often do we reject or deny these in our life and what's the result of that denial?  As we lean deeper into our suffering, it not only produces healing and peace, but also leads to a new sense of wholeness that equips us to be used by God in ways we never imagined.  Don't miss this powerful in-depth perspective on why God allows suffering in our lives.

In Episode 4, Mark and Sarge discuss the topic of blind spots and dig deep into the challenges and immense value of giving and receiving feedback.  Hard conversations carry a certain level of risk with them, but when approached with humility and truly having the other person's best interests in mind, they are tremendous opportunities for growth.  In fact, it can be life altering.  The guys explore these aspects in various relational settings...at work, home and in our closest friendships.  Do you have someone in your life who can safely point out your blind spots?  Are there hard conversations you should be having with others, but aren't sure how?  If so, don't miss this one.
