The liturgy of Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion begins with a Procession with Palms, which includes a reading from the Gospel recounting the entrance of the Lord Jesus into Jerusalem. This brief homily was given after that Gospel reading with the people of St. Peter’s gathered closely together in the narthex (vestibule) of the church. Afterward, the people and the ministers processed into the main body of the church. Later in the liturgy, the Passion of the Lord from the Gospel of Matthew was read, after which a period of silence was observed in place of the homily.
