Fr. Kirby says that true Christian discipleship is a radical commitment to the ways of Christ. One of the ways we are called to the life of Christ is through our work. Many in today's society are choosing not to work but to rely on government assistance.  The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that Christians have a duty to work.
