REA Group shares jumped nearly three per cent today after the ACCC forced realestate.com.au to scrap contract clauses locking real estate agents into listing exclusively with them. The watchdog says the rules shut out rivals — REA’s agreed to drop them for the next three years.
Elsewhere on Wall Street though, things weren’t especially upbeat. The ASX 200 barely moved today, up a tenth of a per cent to just under 8,770, and the Aussie dollar slipped a touch to just over 71 US cents.
Overnight, the S&P and Nasdaq both eased around half a per cent as oil kept climbing — Brent’s now just over 107 bucks a barrel on Middle East supply worries. Iron ore’s near 97 dollars a tonne, though that’s still Friday’s figure.
And notice this — the US ten-year Treasury yield just hit five per cent for the first time since 2023.
