The Second Sunday of Lent always brings us to the mountain, the mountain of the Transfiguration. And every year, it feels like the Church is giving us a glimpse of Easter long before we get there. It’s as if God knows that the desert of Lent can feel long, and so He offers us a moment of brightness, a moment of clarity, a moment of hope. But today’s readings remind us that the journey of faith always involves two movements: leaving and seeing.

This Gospel resonates deeply with the witness of St. Agatha, a young woman who lived her mission with extraordinary courage. Like the apostles, she had very little worldly protection. She carried no weapons, no influence, no social power. What she did carry was faith, pure, unwavering, and stronger than any force that tried to break her.
