Franchise Today

This week on Franchise Today, host, Paul Segreto is joined by several of the presenters at the upcoming virtual event, Franchise Social Media Summit. Developed and produced by FranSummit, another strategic partnership with FranchisEssentials Media Group, producer of Franchise Today, the event will take place online September 24-28, 12-2PM CT each day. Paul and his guests will discuss the various topics to be discussed at the Summit.

It's an exciting time at Franchise Today with the launch of its fourth season on Thursday, September 6th at 11AM CT - 12PM ET. In the premiere show, host, Paul Segreto welcomes as his guest, Susan BlackBeth, Chief Operating Officer of Super Wash and Founder of Dealmakers Summit.

On August 28-29, at the Hotel Sofitel, the first ever Dealmakers Summit took place, matching franchise brands with private equity professionals. The event also included educational sessions, one-on-one meetings, panel discussions and the all-important, networking. Working in tandem with a strong group of advisors and sponsors, Susan took a strong vision and made it a reality.

In this segment of Franchise Today, Paul and Susan discuss Dealmakers Summit, including events leading up to the summit. Of course, as there was a great deal of confidential information shared at the event, Paul and Susan will work around such information and provide a recap of the event.

In this last Encore Presentation of the Summer Replay Series on Franchise Today, we go back to February 2012 when Paul Segreto welcomed as his guest, International Franchise Association President & CEO, Steve Caldeira. Paul and Steve discussed the then recently completed IFA Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida. In addition, the discussion turned to franchisor access to credit and the then upcoming Small Business Lending Summit. Also, with a focus on attracting transitioning military personnel into franchising under the IFA VetFranProgram, and with special events and exhibits at the convention specific to this effort. Paul and Steve discussed some of the particulars of the IFAs veterans initiative.

In this Encore Presentation on Franchise Today, Host, Paul Segreto welcomed Catherine Monson, CEO at Fastsigns International. Based upon recent experience leading Fastsigns into Puerto Rico, Catherine discussed the benefits of expansion via international franchising, preparation necessary in exploring and entering international markets, and establishing important international connections from square one. In addition, Catherine provided a glimpse into her then upcoming appearance on CBS Undercover Boss.

The Summer Replay Series continues on Franchise Today with an Encore Presentation with Dina Dwyer-Owens, Chairwoman & CEO of The Dwyer Group. As you may recall Dina appeared on CBSs hit reality show "Undercover Boss" on Jan. 22 (and recently replayed in August) for a journey that today has connected her to her companys service brands on a whole new level. Dina joined host, Paul Segreto, to share her personal experience that showcased her as a woman in a man's world, riding a lawnmower, unloading a water heater, installing commercial exit signs and repairing a stove among the many highlights. In light of the then upcoming International Franchise Association Annual Convention, Dina and Paul also tapped into Dina's experience as the former Chairperson at the IFA in 2009 to provide some insight into the important annual event. In addition, the future of franchising and challenges created by tightened credit and economic uncertainty was also discussed.
