  • Episode 10 - Winning (originally aired November 13, 2020)

What is it like to be a Civil Procedure professor during a pandemic? Let alone a student learning to be a 1L? After repeated and strong requests from students in the fall of 2020, and in an effort to foster Dr. Mike Osterholm's "Pandemic of Kindness," Professor Franck created this podcast to offer her Section 2 students some reflections on life during a pandemic. Special thanks go to all musicians (and their recording labels), particularly Taylor Swift and RuPaul and all of the contestants of RuPaul's Drag Race (Season 12 - 2020) for the fair use of their music for our educational purposes.

This podcast focuses on how to think about losing and winning as a way to generate new value. It also explores one of my favorite quotes of all time from Richard Bach.

Special thanks go to all musicians (and their recording labels), particularly Taylor Swift and Mary Mary for the fair use of their music for our educational purposes.

This podcast focuses on the benefits that you can get from walking, including how it can help improve the efficiency of your studying. Although the episode was originally aired in 2020, you'll notice that there are themes that overlap with some of the podcasts that I created specifically for Section 2 in 2021, like the "Finding Flow" episode. Enjoy!

  • Episode 7 - Skincare (originally aired October 18, 2020)

Special thanks go to all musicians (and their recording labels), particularly Taylor Swift and Christina Aguilera for the fair use of their music for our educational purposes.

While a bit more personal than the previous episodes, this episode focuses on a specific request from the 2020 Section 2, namely "Prof Franck, what is your skin care regime?" But it also stretches beyond this to think of "skin care" as a form of self care.

  • Episode 6 - Finding Flow (New for Section 2 - 2021)

What is it like to be a Civil Procedure professor during a pandemic? Let alone a student learning to be a 1L? After repeated and strong requests from students in the fall of 2020, and in an effort to foster Dr. Mike Osterholm's "Pandemic of Kindness," Professor Franck created this podcast to offer her Section 2 students some reflections on life during a pandemic. Special thanks go to all musicians (and their recording labels), particularly Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande for the fair use of their music for our educational purposes.

This podcast focuses on flow, but in two different contexts. The first part explores the concept of "flow" that helps you focus on work or the things in life that bring you joy. The second part explores flow  in the context of prioritizing things to focus on, with a particular emphasis on 1L summer jobs. It is, in many respects, an effort to help you focus your energies onto the right area at the right time.

It also identifies the four core metrics that I am always shooting for as well as identifying what I think of as the five-stage process of learning a topic, to help manage your expectations about learning and life.

  • Episode 4 - Future You (New for Section 2 - 2021)

What is it like to be a Civil Procedure professor during a pandemic? Let alone a student learning to be a 1L? After repeated and strong requests from students in the fall of 2020, and in an effort to foster Dr. Mike Osterholm's "Pandemic of Kindness," Professor Franck created this podcast to offer her Section 2 students some reflections on life during a pandemic. Special thanks go to all musicians (and their recording labels), particularly Taylor Swift and Jason Mraz for the fair use of their music for our educational purposes.

This episodes focuses on a phrase I learned from a student to help prioritize your focus and alleviate stress, namely: that is a problem for future you. The core message focuses on how to keep your focus narrow in terms of getting through your fall semester -- but also planning (or not planning!) too much for the future. I offer a few tips about how I have managed some my own stress in ways that have been fundamental to my capacity to transform positively in the midst of loss.
